 Dearest Family Members of SFX,Congratulations for having journeyed with the Parish of SFX which was officially opened on 2nd February 1961. We have flourished in our faith and in the various ministries that developed over the years to address the needs of our brothers and sisters. As we approach our 50th year, it is timely to express our gratitude firstly to our Lord for having chosen us to be part of this dynamic family of SFX. We are fortunate to be associated with the Jesuit Community from its humble beginnings till today. The Jesuits have given us good leadership and stewardship over the years. We have indeed been blessed with a diverse variety of talents which have been put to good use in the running of the Parish. Thank you Jesuits of SFX, both past and present. Basic Ecclesial Communities were formed in the 1970s and took over several responsibilities from the parish priest. Today, 17 BECs are a part of SFX. BEC sponsored masses work in tandem with the Parish by supplying the liturgical teams i.e. lectors, commentators, hospitality ministers and EMOHCs. The BECs are Christ-centred communities and they share their faith in the Word of God and strengthen the spirituality of parishioners by praying together and supporting each member. BECs continue to be the main thrust of the Parish and all SFX parishioners who have yet to join a BEC should make an effort to do so as part of our Golden Jubilee resolution. At the Parish Centre we are very blessed to have a vibrant group of volunteers who have offered their services to the Lord. There are 40 Parish Groups organised into 4 Parish Commissions. Actively involved in their work, their contribution has been pivotal in bringing us closer as a family. We have seen God’s glory as they beautify the Church or serve the Church in the various capacities. We hope that the enthusiasm in serving the Parish will continue and Parish Groups will look into more avenues to serve and work with the BECs. “We are the Church. The Church on Mission” was the Silver Jubilee theme of SFX Church. And as we continue to be Church on Mission, the PPC would like it to be put on record – our grateful thanks to our various past lay leaders who without their effort, we would not have made so much progress. I would like to also acknowledge and thank the SFX Golden Jubilee Committee for working so industriously to prepare us both physically and spiritually for our Golden Jubilee.
